Violent riots erupted after the recent assembly elections in West Bengal.
Many BJP volunteers were injured in the violence. Volunteers from the ruling Trinamool Congress resorted to violence against opposition parties, including the BJP, following the release of the assembly election results.
BJP offices were set on fire in several places. The BJP also alleged that several BJP volunteers were killed. Moreover, the Left and the Congress were also attacked by Trinamool Congress volunteers.
The Kolkata High Court had ordered the formation of a panel to look into all cases related to the violence.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) yesterday filed a report in the Kolkata High Court on the post-election violence. The Kolkata High Court has adjourned the case till July 2.
