INS at Thoothukudi Port A submarine is parked at the Kattabomman naval base.
China has recently leaked information to Sri Lanka in the Bay of Bengal in an effort to increase its naval strength. This was seen as a move to escalate China-India war tensions.

It has been reported that the submarine has been docked at the Thoothukudi dockyard to repair the technical malfunction of the ship and to refuel with petrol, diesel and basic necessities.
It is also reported that the 'Sindhu Shastra' submarine may have arrived for a war rehearsal in the Mediterranean. The ship is said to be docked at the port of Thoothukudi for a week. The news of the submarine capsizing in the port of Thoothukudi has caused a great stir in the area.
