Chance of thundershowers in the northern coastal districts for the next 24 hours ...!


The Meteorological Department has forecast heat wave rain in the north coastal districts of Puthuvai, Karaikal and adjoining interior districts today as the sun shines in many districts of Tamil Nadu. Thunderstorms would occur at many places in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni and Dindigul districts.

Although the Southwest Monsoon has started in Tamil Nadu, it is yet to intensify in many districts. It is raining at few places in Coimbatore and Nilgiri districts.

The Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms in the northern coastal districts for the next 24 hours due to global warming.
On June 22, thunderstorms will occur at many places in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Theni districts and in the remaining districts of Tiruppur, Dindigul and Tenkasi along the Western Ghats.

Thunderstorms would occur at a few places over Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu and Puthuvai.

Thunderstorms will occur at many places over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Madurai and Delta districts on 23rd.

Similarly, light to moderate rain is very likely at isolated places over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi districts and Interior districts of Western Ghats on 24th. Dry weather is likely to prevail over other districts and parts of Puduvai Karaikal.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain at one or two places in Puthuvai and Karaikal areas of Tamil Nadu on 25th.

For Chennai, the sky will remain cloudy for the next 48 hours with light to moderate rain and thundershowers in some parts of the city.

The Meteorological Department said in a statement that fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea as strong winds are likely in the Arabian Sea from today till 25th.
