The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecast widespread rains across Tamil Nadu today.

According to the Meteorological Department,

As the southwest monsoon intensifies, most districts in Tamil Nadu are likely to receive widespread rains for two days.

The Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts will receive heavy rains till July 25 and the next 48 hours will receive moderate rains in Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi, Vellore, Tirupati, Ranipettai, Salem, Krishnagiri and North Coast districts.

For Chennai, the sky will be overcast with a chance of moderate rain in some parts of the city.

Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the southern and central Bay of Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep and south-eastern Arabian Sea until July 25 as strong winds are expected.
