Heavy rains likely in 5 districts of Tamil Nadu due to intensification of southwest monsoon ..!


The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rains in one or two places in Kanyakumari, Tenkasi, Theni, Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts of Tamil Nadu due to the intensification of the southwest monsoon.

According to a press release issued by the Chennai Meteorological Department, Kanyakumari, Tenkasi, Theni, Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts will receive heavy to very heavy thundershowers at one or two places due to the intensification of the southwest monsoon.

Dindigul, Erode, Nellai, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Krishnagiri, Salem, Dharmapuri, Vellore, Ranipettai and Tirupati districts will receive light to moderate rain with thundershowers at a few places.

Elsewhere, the weather will be dry in some parts of Puduvai and Karaikal districts.

The Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Theni districts will receive heavy to very heavy rains with thunder and lightning on July 11. Thundershowers will develop at several places in Dindigul, Tenkasi and Kanyakumari districts.

Other districts and parts of Puthuvai and Karaikal are likely to experience dry weather and light showers in one or two places.

In particular, the Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Theni districts have been asked to avoid trekking from July 10 to 12 due to the possibility of heavy rains with strong winds in the hilly areas and landslides in the hilly areas.
