Heavy rain in 16 districts for next five days ...!

The Chennai Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in 16 districts in Tamil Nadu, including the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni and Kanchipuram.

According to a press release issued by the Chennai Meteorological Department, heavy rains are expected in 16 districts of Tamil Nadu today due to the prevailing atmospheric circulation and southwest monsoon in the southern coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas.

July 17: Heavy showers at Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Kallakurichi, Thiruvannamalai, Tirupati, Vellore, Ranipettai, Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu districts.

Thundershowers will develop at a few places in other northern districts, Pondicherry and Karaikal. Light to moderate showers will occur at a few places in the southern districts.

Heavy rains are also expected in Coimbatore, Nilgiris and Salem districts for the next five days.

For Chennai, the sky will be overcast for the next 48 hours. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in some parts of the city.
