The death toll in violent protests in South Africa has risen to 212 in the past week ...!

Violent protests have erupted over the past week following the imprisonment of former South African President Jacob Zuma on corruption charges.

Cases of corruption allegations against Jacob Zuma, who was celebrated as President of the People, from 2009-2018 are pending in court. But so far Zuma has not denied the allegations on his behalf and has not testified, so he was sentenced on July 7 to 15 months in prison for contempt of court. His supporters are currently engaged in a violent struggle while he is in prison.

The state is facing a major problem as the protesters are armed. The death toll from the violence and government action has risen to 212 so far.

So far the police have arrested more than 2,500 people and registered 1488 cases and confiscated 4,000 bullets and unlicensed firearms from the 2 main culprits caught in the search.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that national highways would be opened to repair the country's economic losses and essential commodities such as medicines, food and fuel would be transported.

The government has also deployed 25,000 security forces to control the riots.
