Kumbakonam will be declared as a new district after accepting the request of Anpalagan and Govi ​​Cheliyan. Later, speaking at a public election campaign rally in Orattanadu, MK Stalin promised that Kumbakonam would be declared a new district after the DMK came to power.

In this context, the first legislative session of governance chaired by MK Stalin is starting today (June 21) after winning the elections and becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. In this meeting, the people of the area are expecting Kumbakonam to be declared as a new district.

District Sangharsh Samiti coordinator MK Stalin said: “We have made several struggles to bring the districts of Kumbakonam, Papanasam and Thiruvidaimarudur to the fore and declare a new district with the headquarters of Kumbakonam. With all the qualifications for the new district, the current legislature must announce it at the next meeting without delay. In this regard, we have submitted petitions to DMK MLAs in these constituencies.

Federation of All Chambers of Commerce secretary V. Sathyanarayanan said: All offices in district capitals are functioning in Kumbakonam. Only collector's office should be made. If a new district is announced, the area will increase further.

The new district had become undeclared due to some political situation in the past.

Now, the environment is just right for it. Kumbakonam district is the first in DMK's election promise. Therefore, focusing on this, the Chief Minister said that just as the complaints would be resolved within 100 days under the 'Stalin in Your Constituency' scheme, the demand for a separate Kumbakonam district should also be resolved.
