Twitter has told the federal government that it is working to adopt new IT rules.
Allegations arose that information against India's security and sovereignty was being shared on social media. Following this, the federal government recently introduced new information technology rules to regulate social media such as Facebook, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. Accordingly, the companies were urged to appoint separate officers locally to address the grievances of the beneficiaries. Many more restrictions were enacted through new rules. With the consent of social networking sites such as Google, Facebook and its subsidiary WhatsApp, Twitter alone has refused to accept the new rules.
On June 5, the Federal Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology warned Twitter that it would face "severe action" if it did not comply with the new rules, including the immediate appointment of an officer to take action on users' complaints.
In this regard, it has been informed that it is in the process of adopting and complying with the new IT regulations and has appointed an Indian official on a contract basis to investigate the complaints and the definite details will be released within a week. In a letter to the Union Ministry of Information Technology, Twitter said it was committed to serving the people of India by providing a platform to facilitate public dialogue in the country.
Following this, the problem of continuing the service in India seems to be gone.
