The Medical Association for Social Equality has condemned the growing dissatisfaction of non-Dalit lower-level medical officers with what Dalit medical officials say about Corona's work, and the increasing tendency to denigrate Dalit officials with caste. Further details of the statement issued by the General Secretary of the Association, Rabindranath, are as follows:
In one such incident, a Dalit medical officer was allegedly insulted by a young medical officer and beaten with a shirt. He is said to be a close relative of Hon'ble Minister Senthil Balaji. It is reprehensible that only a Dalit medical officer has been arrested and lodged in Villupuram jail for failing to find a proper solution to the problem between a Dalit medical officer and another young doctor in connection with the Corona mission.
His hand is said to have superficial intervention. In particular, Hon'ble Minister Senthil Balaji is said to be involved. The arrest has caused fear and anxiety among Dalit doctors and medical officials. It has created an environment where Dalit doctors and medical officers have to work in an unsafe environment with fear. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu should take immediate action in this regard. The arrested Dalit doctor should be released from Villupuram jail immediately.
The case against him should be quashed. The National Commission for the Rights of the Downtrodden should conduct an immediate inquiry into the incident. The Tamil Nadu Health Department should order an honest inquiry into the incident. Action must be taken against whoever did the wrong. Thus it is said.
