With the curfew extended for another week in Tamil Nadu till June 14, vegetable, grocery and meat shops will be reopened from today (June 7).
The speed of corona spread in Tamil Nadu was very severe 2 weeks ago. The full curfew was enforced from May 24 to May 31, with more than 35,000 people being infected per day. Thereafter the number of infections began to gradually decrease.
Subsequently, the full curfew was extended for another week from May 31 to June 7, in addition to further controlling the spread of the corona infection and breaking the corona spread chain.
The coronavirus infection has been steadily declining and the daily incidence has been reduced to 21,000 throughout the current curfew. However, only a few of these districts had high epidemics. Following this, Chief Minister Stalin announced that the curfew would be extended until June 14 with some relaxation.
Accordingly, activities already permitted in all districts will continue to be allowed under this new curfew. Although the disease is currently endemic in many districts in Tamil Nadu, it is still prevalent in Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai.
Therefore, in order to curb the spread of the disease in these districts, with the aim of meeting the basic needs of the public, permission will be granted from Monday (7th) with restrictions only on the following essential activities in the above 11 districts, with relaxations already allowed.
Separate grocery, grocery, vegetable, meat and fish shops will be allowed to operate from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pedestrian stalls selling vegetables and fruits are allowed to operate from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Meat shops will be allowed to operate only for wholesale.
All government offices will be allowed to operate at 30 percent staff. Only 50 per cent per day at the registrar's offices will be allowed to issue tokens.
Match factories will be allowed to operate with 50 percent employees following standard guidelines
In view of the declining incidence of the disease in other districts except 11, the following activities will be allowed in addition to the levels already allowed.

Affiliate offices are required to issue tokens only 50 percent of the day and carry out tasks. Services including home maintenance in private security service companies and office homes and apartments will be allowed.

Self-employed personnel such as electrical workers, computer and machinery repairers and carpenters will be allowed to work from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Electronics stores will be allowed to operate from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Two-wheeler repair shops only operate from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shops selling auto parts are allowed to operate from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Shops selling education, books and stationery are allowed to operate from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Two-wheeler distribution shops are only allowed for auto repair work. Passengers in rental vehicles, taxis and autos will be allowed to travel with e-registration.
Public notice will be obtained from the concerned District Collector for travel to tourist destinations like Nilgiris District, Kodaikanal, Yercaud, Yelagiri for urgent reasons.
Export companies in Tirupur, Salem, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli and Madurai districts will be allowed to operate in accordance with standard guidelines with 10 per cent staff only for export related tasks and sending samples, if the input manufacturing and supplying companies have export orders.
The scheme of selling vegetables and fruits to the public through mobile vehicles introduced by the Government of Tamil Nadu will continue to be implemented as it has been well received by the public. The public is advised to walk to the shops near their homes and buy goods and avoid going in a two-wheeler or four-wheeler.
