Land documents of temples under the control of the Hindu Charities Department in Tamil Nadu are to be published on the website today (09.06.2021).
A statement from Minister Sekarbabu said, “There are more than 36,000 temples under the control of the Department of Hindu Religious Affairs. The land owned by the temples is 4,78,272 acres.
Verification of title deeds to these lands is currently in full swing. The title deeds of the temple lands have been compared with the ‘Tamil land’ software controlled by the Revenue Department and classified into three species as fully compatible species, partially compatible species and new species.
Of these, 3,43,647 acres are currently being identified as compatible species and the 'A' Register / Urban Land Survey Record and Cita of those lands will be published on the Department's website tomorrow (09.06.2021) for public viewing. This is 72 per cent of the total land area. Once the public chooses the title ‘Temples Lands’ on the department’s website and then selects the temple listed, the fully compatible species belonging to the temple will appear on the screen.
The public can view or download the 'A' Register / Urban Land Survey Record and Cita of those lands. In addition, the ownership documents of the partially compliant lands will be reviewed with the Revenue Department and Land Survey Department documents, appropriate legal action will be taken, converted into fully compliant species and published on the website. I would like to inform you that all the steps will be taken by the Department of Hindu Religious Affairs to ensure that the title deeds of all the lands belonging to the temples are in the name of the temples concerned.
"If the public wants to have any comments or requests on this, they can register under the 'Register Requests' scheme," said Minister Sekarbabu.
