The Met Office has forecast thundershowers at Theni, Dindigul, Salem, Madurai, Dharmapuri, Sivagangai and Virudhunagar districts in Tamil Nadu for the next 24 hours due to atmospheric circulation and heat wave.

It rained in many districts of Tamil Nadu yesterday. Ramanathapuram district received maximum rainfall of 9 cm in the last 24 hours. Dindigul, Karur, Paramathi received 6 cm of rain and Paramathi Vellore received 5 cm of rain.

The Met Office has forecast thundershowers at Theni, Dindigul, Salem, Madurai, Dharmapuri, Sivagangai and Virudhunagar districts today.
Elsewhere, Puduvai and Karaikal will receive light to moderate showers with thundershowers at a few places, the Met office said.

Heavy showers are likely in Theni, Dindigul, Salem, Madurai, Dharmapuri, Sivagangai, Virudhunagar, Villupuram and Kallakurichi districts on July 1 due to heat wave.

Thundershowers will occur at several places in Vellore, Ranipettai, Salem, Dharmapuri, Thiruvannamalai, Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts on July 2.

For Chennai, the sky will be clear in the morning and partly cloudy in the evening for the next 24 hours.

Fishermen have been advised not to go to sea as strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph are expected in the south-western, central and western Arabian Sea areas from today till July 4.
