Mehul Choksi's deportation case has been adjourned and the team of officials who brought him to India has returned home.
Mehul Choksi, a diamond trader who swindled Rs 14,000 crore at the Punjab National Bank branch in Mumbai, Maharashtra, has fled to Antigua and Barbuda, a North American country. Choksi, who recently tried to flee Cuba from Antigua, was arrested in the neighboring island nation of Dominica.
Eight officers from the CBI and the Enforcement Department went to Dominica to deport him to India.
When the Dominican High Court heard of Choxi's deportation, the case was adjourned for Choczy's lawyers and Dominica's public prosecutors to decide in what language to hold the trial. Following this, a team of Indian officials went to Dominica to pick up Choksi and returned home.
