The abduction and torture of the daughter of the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan has come as a shock. Taliban militants have been back in control of the country since the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.
The Taliban have taken control of the country's main borders and cities.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani is confident that the Taliban will continue to advance and capture many areas, but that we will eventually win the war.
On the one hand, Ashraf Ghani blamed Pakistan for the war in Afghanistan. Ashraf Ghani had said in the presence of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan that more than 10,000 jihadi militants had entered Afghanistan from Pakistan and that Pakistan was harboring Taliban terrorists.
"If there is a war in Afghanistan, we will be the ones to suffer the most. Imran Khan retaliated by saying, "We are not to blame for the current war." In this context, the abduction and torture of the daughter of the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan has come as a shock.
Najeeb Ali is Afghanistan's ambassador to Pakistan. His daughter Silsila Alikil Jinnah, 26, was abducted by gunmen on her way home from a supermarket. He was tortured for about 7 hours and later released. Najeeb Alikil is currently admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The Afghan Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the incident and called for adequate security for Afghan government officials and their families in Pakistan. It also called for appropriate action in the case of Najeeb Ali's abduction.
