It has been reported that former minister CV Shanmugam, who lost the assembly elections, is being re-elected as an MLA by a BJP MLA and a deal of up to Rs 30 crore is being negotiated for this.
CV Shanmugam, who was the Law Minister, was expected to contest and win the Villupuram constituency for the 3rd time. But former MP Lakshmanan, who was left horny against CV Shanmugam in Villupuram district by Jayalalithaa, contested from DMK in Villupuram constituency and defeated CV Shanmugam. Velumani, Thangamani and Senkottaiyan, who were ministers in power in the AIADMK, have all easily won and become MLAs.
But CV Shanmugam was a key figure in the AIADMK government and was very close to Edappadi Palanisamy and actively sought to sideline the Sasikala family from the AIADMK. But his defeat in the election has resonated not only with him but also with the AIADMK. Meanwhile, CV Shanmugam is said to be still dreaming of becoming an MLA despite losing the assembly elections. The peacock block in Villupuram district was allotted to Bamaga. Sivakumar is contesting there as an MLA.
Meanwhile, Mayiladuthurai MLA Sivakumar has been showing closeness with CV Shanmugam for the past few days. AIADMK MLA Sivakumar participated in the AIADMK secretaries' consultation meeting held at Villupuram. Also Sivakumar was given a seat near CV Shanmugam in the first row of the consultation meeting. AIADMK MLA Sivakumar's attendance at the AIADMK executive council meeting surprised many. Speaking to AIADMK executives about this, they say that the brother is dreaming of somehow becoming an MLA again and going to the legislature.
Sivakumar Vella's brother is the reason for the Mayiladuthurai constituency in Villupuram district. Sivakumar also knows this. And Bamaga currently has just 5 MLAs. Thus there is no large-scale gain for the BJP leadership. So after all this, the brother says that he has asked Sivakumar to resign as an MLA and that if he resigns, he will be responsible for a lot of money in the AIADMK. But they say that Sivakumar did not give in to this matter out of fear of Thailapuram, but now Sivakumar has become a shadow to his brother as he has said that his brother will also speak in Thailapuram.
Meanwhile, some AIADMK executives have alleged that CV Shanmugam's party had negotiated with Sivakumar to resign as an MLA for up to 30 crore rupees. Sivakumar is also set to step down as Mayiladuthurai MLA soon as Rs 30 crore could be settled for two generations. But those who are very, very close to the CV face say that half of this is true and half false. It is true that Annan Mayilam is counting on becoming the MLA of the constituency, but the 30 crore rupees deal for this is all a lie.
If the by-election is to overthrow the ruling party, it will have to spend up to 20 crore rupees anyway. So they ask with logic that an MLA post brother will spend Rs 50 crore. But what works for the BJP MLA in the AIADMK consultative meeting is that the gang becomes very close to the CV face as if the fire does not smoke.
