The Met Office has forecast thundershowers at Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Sivagangai, Pudukottai and Delta districts in Tamil Nadu.
The southwest monsoon in Tamil Nadu has intensified in many districts and it is raining due to convection. Ariyalur district received 11 cm of rain. Mannargudi received 8 cm of rainfall. Yercaud and Mudukulathur received 5 cm of rain each. Rainfall was also reported in Erode and Bhavani Sagar areas.
The Met Office has forecast heavy rains in many parts of Tamil Nadu today.
The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecast showers in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul and Tenkasi districts along the Western Ghats. Light to moderate showers with thundershowers are expected at one or two places in the southern districts and Karaikal.
On the 25th and 26th, there will be light to moderate rain in a few places in the inner districts of Tamil Nadu. The Met Office said dry weather was expected in other districts.
On the 27th, the Meteorological Department said that light to moderate rain is likely in one or two places in the coastal districts and New Delhi.
For Chennai, thundershowers will occur at a few places in the city during the next 24 hours. The maximum temperature will be 38 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 28 degrees Celsius.
Fishermen have been advised not to go to sea on the above dates as strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph and occasional 60 kmph are likely in the southwestern and central western Arabian Sea from today till the 27th.
