Three people died in an explosion while making crackers illegally in the house....

Three persons, including a mother and son, were killed in an explosion while illegally making firecrackers at their house near Sattur in Virudhunagar district.

Illegal firecrackers are being made in many houses in Thyalpatti Artist Colony area near Sattur. The Vembkottai Police has raided and arrested many people in this connection. However, illegal firecrackers continue to be produced in the houses in the area.

In such a situation, Solsa type firecrackers have been made at the house of Surya (29) located in Thillpatti Artist Colony this morning. Then the fire in the kitchen started with firecrackers and exploded. Firecrackers made in nearby houses exploded one after the other. Four houses collapsed in the accident.

 

Also killed in the accident were Apollo's wife Selvamani (35), their 5-year-old son Ragabiasalmon and Kaliraj's wife Karbagam (35). Surya suffered 75 per cent burns and Solayammal suffered a fracture.

On receiving information, fire brigade personnel reached the spot and started the rescue work. SP Manokaran visited the spot and conducted investigation. Both the injured have been admitted to the government hospital in Sivakasi and are being treated intensively. The Vembkottai police have registered a case and are probing the incident.
