'Prime Minister's consultation with Kashmir leaders completed' .... Ghulam Nabi Azad informed that 5 demands have been put forward ....!


A key consultative meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was held in Delhi today on the conduct of Assembly elections to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and some other issues.

It discussed issues including redefining the constituency in order to hold legislative elections.
The special status for Kashmir was revoked by the central government in 2019. Divided Kashmir and Ladakh into 2 Union Territories. Two years after the partition of the state, a high-level meeting was arranged at Prime Minister Modi's residence to discuss the future of Kashmir and the development plans to be undertaken and the conduct of the Assembly elections. The central government has invited 14 leaders from 8 Kashmir parties to participate.

The meeting was attended by leaders of the Kupkar Coalition, which includes six parties, the National Convention Party, the People's Democratic Party and the Left.

Speaking to reporters at the end of the meeting, Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "Five demands have been put forward to restore Kashmir's state status, hold legislative elections, ensure the land rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, return the Kashmir Pandits with dignity to their homeland and release political prisoners immediately." .

According to Altaf Bukhari of the Jammu and Kashmir Party, Prime Minister Modi has asked all parties to co-operate in the constituency restructuring process. We were informed that this consultative meeting was entirely for election purposes. He, however, said the government was committed to restoring state status to Kashmir.

Sajid Lone said the Prime Minister sought the cooperation of Kashmir leaders.
