The Met Office has warned of thundershowers at one or two places in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Kanyakumari districts in Tamil Nadu in the next 24 hours.

Chennai Meteorological Center today issued a statement in this regard:

The depression is formed along the coasts of North Bengal, Odisha and West Bengal. It lasts in the same area.

It will also intensify over the next 48 hours as part of a deep depression.

Thus, there is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder and lightning in one or two places in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Kanyakumari districts in Tamil Nadu during the next 24 hours.

 Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in a few places in many districts.

Chance of heavy rain in Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts for the next 4 days from tomorrow till the 17th

Similarly, districts along the Western Ghats are likely to receive showers.

Strong winds of 45 to 55 kmph are expected in the Bay of Bengal for the first 3 days today. May blow at speed.

Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in the Arabian Sea today. Fishermen are thus advised not to go to these areas.
