It is learned that government officials had suggested at a consultation meeting held by Chief Minister Stalin today that the general freeze in Tamil Nadu could be extended for another week with some additional relaxations.
The general freeze was imposed in Tamil Nadu from May 10 last year due to the intensification of the second wave of Corona.
The general freeze was then extended with some relaxation. Chief Minister MK Stalin today held a consultation at the General Secretariat as the general embargo with the relaxations currently in place is set to end on June 14.
Top officials who attended the meeting suggested that the 27 corona deficient districts in Tamil Nadu be given some further relaxation and extended till June 21.
Also, it has been reported that liquor stores in corona-less districts may open on a token basis.
The consultation meeting was held at the General Secretariat in Chennai and was attended by the Minister of Health, the Principal Secretary and senior officials.
It is learned that the Chief Minister will announce the relaxation and extension of the general ban tomorrow.
