Agreement to provide security to Indian workers seeking domestic work in Kuwait ....!


An agreement has been signed between the two countries to provide protection to Indian workers looking for domestic work in Kuwait.


More than 10 lakh Indians live in the Middle Eastern country of Kuwait.

An agreement has been reached to bring Indians working as domestic workers under one legal framework.

The agreement was signed yesterday by the Indian Ambassador to the country, CB George, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, Majdi Ahmed Al Tabiri.

Our Foreign Minister Jaishankar was accompanied by the then Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al Mohammed Al-Sabah.

A statement from our Embassy in Kuwait said: "This agreement paves the way for regulating the employment of Kuwaiti Indians in domestic work and providing legal protection to those employed.

Through this an employment agreement will be introduced to ensure the rights and obligations of employers and domestic workers.

A 24-hour assistance system will be set up for the workers here.

A committee will be set up to review and evaluate the contract. Thus it is said.
