At least 27 people have been killed in lightning strikes in various parts of West Bengal on the same day yesterday.
It is raining heavily in various districts of West Bengal. It has been raining with intense thunder and lightning since yesterday morning in various districts. Heavy rains are expected mainly in south-western Bengal.
Some houses and trees caught fire as lightning struck successively in various places. At least 26 people were killed yesterday in a lightning strike at various places on the same day.
Murshidabad has 10 victims, while Hooghly has 11 victims. West Midnapore receives 3 and Bankura 2. In a few more places many have been injured due to lightning strikes and deaths.
In West Bengal, Prime Minister Modi has provided Rs 2 lakh relief fund to the families of the victims and Rs 50,000 relief to the injured.
