Shaw Bahadur Thapa was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Nepal for the 5th time yesterday.

The Supreme Court has ruled that President Vidyadevi Bandari's dissolution of the lower house on the recommendation of former Prime Minister KP Chama Oli is invalid and that Nepalese Congress leader Shaw Bahadur Thapa should be sworn in as the new Prime Minister by July 13.

Following this, President Vidyadevi administered the oath of office to Sher Bahadur yesterday.

Adhiba Vidyadevi Bandari on May 22 dissolved the 275-member lower house of parliament on the recommendation of former prime minister KP Chama Oli. It was also announced that the Dotal will be held on November 12 and 19.

About 30 petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the lower house of parliament. The matter was heard by a five-judge constitutional bench headed by Chief Justice Solendra Chumso Rana. The judges handed down the case on Monday.

At that time, the judges revoked the order dissolving the lower house of parliament, saying it was unconstitutional. Also, the judges ordered the president to appoint Nepali Congress leader Shaw Bahadur Taba as the new prime minister by Tuesday.

Judges Amawu also ordered that a new meeting of the House of Representatives be held on July 18 at 5 p.m.

Shaw Bahadur Thapa has already served four terms as Prime Minister of Nepal. She served as Prime Minister from 1995-1997, 2001-2002, 2004-2005 and 2017-18.
