Pushkar Singh Dhami takes over as Uttarakhand Chief Minister


Pushkar Singh Dhami of the BJP has been sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. The chief minister has been replaced for the third time in four months due to an internal party affair.

Trivendra Singh Rawat of the BJP took over as Uttarakhand Chief Minister in March 2017. There was strong opposition to his activities in the party. He was subsequently removed in March this year and Tirath Singh Rawat took over as chief minister. Former MP Theerath Singh is expected to be elected MLA by September.

With assembly elections due in March next year, a by-election is unlikely to take place due to the high prevalence of the corona virus. Following this, Tirath Singh Rawat announced the resignation of the Chief Minister the day before yesterday. The parties are dissatisfied as he has been making many controversial remarks. He is thought to have survived an earlier attempt to oust him following Mr Jiang's intervention.

In this context, a meeting of party MLAs was held in Dehradun yesterday to elect a new Chief Minister. Of which, 57 ml. A., also participated. Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, the party's central observer, and state chief minister Dushyant Kumar Gautam attended the meeting.

With the names of many considered, Pushkar Singh Dhami was chosen as the next Chief Minister. Dhami, a supporter of BJP senior leader and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, is a second-time MLA. Following this, the Chief Minister is being transferred for the third time in four months in Uttarakhand.

Dhami, who has been elected chief minister, met with Governor Baby Rani Maurya and demanded the right to take office. With the governor's approval, Dhami was sworn in as the state's youngest chief minister at a ceremony tonight. He was sworn in by the governor. Along with the first, ministers also took office.
