The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in 8 districts in Tamil Nadu today.

According to the Meteorological Department,

Heavy rains are likely in various districts of Tamil Nadu due to atmospheric circulation and warming.

Heavy showers are expected in Vellore, Ranipettai, Tiruvallur, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Theni districts today and moderate in Puthuvai and other districts.

Heavy rain is likely in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Kumari, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Kanchipuram, Cuddalore and Thiruvannamalai districts tomorrow and the next day in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Kumari districts.

The sky will be overcast in Chennai for the next 48 hours and there will be a chance of moderate rain in some parts of the city.

Landslide warning

Extreme levels of rainfall are expected in some parts of Coimbatore, Nilgiris and Theni districts.
