The Election Commission on Wednesday announced that the Constituency Reforms Commission will travel to Jammu and Kashmir between July 6-9 to hold discussions with political parties and people's representatives.

The decision was taken after a meeting chaired by Retired Judge Ranjana Prakash Desai and Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra.

The Commission expects all parties to cooperate and make their valuable recommendations. With this, the restoration work will be completed soon. "

On August 5, 2019, the Central Government revoked the special status for the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The state was divided into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

In this context, the Constituency Reorganization Commission will redefine the parliamentary and assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir.
