Naphtali Bennett has been sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Israel.

This marks the end of Benjamin Netanyahu's 12-year rule.

Israel, a West Asian country, has held four general elections in the past two and a half years. Netanyahu's Liquid Party won more seats in each election, but could not last due to lack of majority strength.

So Netanyahu continued as caretaker Prime Minister. In the March 23 election, Benjamin Netanyahu's party won 54 of the 120 seats.

He was unable to form a coalition government even when it came to being the sole party. Thus the tug-of-war situation persisted.

There 8 opposition parties formed an alliance together. Together, these eight Arab-led parties have now put an end to Netanyahu's rule.

The coalition parties are set to share the PM's job in rotation.

It was also announced that Naphtali Bennett, the leader of the right-wing Yamina Party, would take over as prime minister.

Following the victory of Yamina party leader Bennett in a vote of confidence in the Israeli parliament, he was sworn in as the new Prime Minister.

This marks the end of Benjamin Netanyahu's 12-year rule.
