Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir ... will not participate in the elections until I am given special status again ...

Mehbooba Mufti, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and leader of the People's Democratic Party, has categorically stated that he will not participate in electoral politics until Jammu and Kashmir is given special status again under sections 370 and 35a.

Several leaders, including Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, have been detained in Kashmir following the revocation of its special status in 2019 by the central government. Forces were concentrated.

Two years later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held consultations with Kashmir political leaders in Delhi for about three and a half hours two days ago.
Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections, but will demand that Kashmir be re-elected and that elections be held thereafter.

It is in this context that Mehbooba Mufti has given some information in an exclusive interview to a private English media. Look at what he said.

The special status accorded to Jammu and Kashmir was revoked in 2019. Asking for it to be returned is not separatism. The main purpose of the meeting with Narendra Modi was not to hold elections where Jammu and Kashmir should be given state status as before. I met the Prime Minister for the purpose of strengthening trust among the people of the state and improving their livelihoods.

I am convinced that Jammu and Kashmir should be given special status. But it is clear that this demand will not be easily met by the central government. But somewhere a start is needed. The alliance of Kupkar parties will continue until this demand is met. I am not going to participate in vote politics unless Kashmir is given special status. He is not going to contest if the election takes place. Thus said Mehbooba Mufti.
