Edappadi Palanisamy, the party's co-coordinator, has built the round by summoning nine district secretaries simultaneously at the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai.
Earlier this year, the AIADMK announced the division of the constituencies in the Chennai district into two and one district secretary for each. That is, AIADMK increased the number of district secretaries in Chennai to nine. The reason for this is the intelligence report that AIADMK is in Chennai. The AIADMK appointed district secretaries on the basis that appointing one district secretary for each of the two constituencies would enable them to be active in the election process. In that sense, Adirajaram, who was influential when Jayalalithaa was in Chennai, became district secretaries.
But the AIADMK won all the constituencies in Chennai in the Assembly elections. Ministers Jayakumar and Benjamin in particular embraced defeat. The AIADMK has not lost so many constituencies in Chennai in recent times. Although the DMK won most of the constituencies in Chennai last time, the AIADMK had won constituencies like Rayapuram, Maduravayal and Thiyagarayanagar. But this time the AIADMK leadership was shocked to lose by several thousand votes in 18 constituencies in Chennai and its suburbs.
Edappadi Palanisamy had already asked the nine district secretaries to come to the head office to consult on the matter. Edappadi Palanisamy, who came to Chennai from Salem at this stage, met nine people at the party office at the same time. Rajesh, Venkatesh Babu, Jayakumar, Satya, Ashok, Virugai Ravi, Adirajaram, KP Kanthan and Benjamin were all present at the meeting. Edappadi Palanisamy had just come to the party office after the election defeat and the election of the Leader of the Opposition.
Edappadi Palanisamy has started saying that the AIADMK had done better in Chennai than the DMK. But he said the most important reason for the appearance was that voters did not feel the mood properly. Edappadi Palanisamy also spoke in detail about the complaint that the district secretaries did not find the candidates. If they do not win a single constituency, the district secretaries will say that Edappadi was tough at one point.
Jayakumar said that Minister Jayakumar had spoken crossly while Edappadi was speaking and that there was a wave of support for the DMK in Chennai at that time and that is why the AIADMK was defeated in the AIADMK strongholds of Rayapuram, Thiyagarayanagar and RK Nagar. But they say Edappadiyar refused to accept this. Edappadi Palanisamy has categorically said that any wave could have been changed by the electoral process. They also say they have told district secretaries that they expect more from them and that it is not acceptable to be home during the corona.
Following this, Edappadi Palanisamy has decided to meet the AIADMK defeated district secretaries in Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur and build a round. A few district secretaries say they are likely to be replaced.
