The Chennai High Court has ordered the Tamil Nadu government not to allow the occupation of even an inch of forest land in Tamil Nadu.

Prabhakaran, a native of Cuddalore, has filed a case in the Chennai High Court seeking action against an unauthorized resort in Naduvattam village in the Nilgiris district.

Prabhakaran said in his petition: - Due to the increase in encroachments in the protected forest, the trees have been cut down and the natural beauty has been affected. The birds are becoming magical. Landslides are occurring as streams are blocked. Kavitha Shenbagam, a doctor in Naduvattam village, is building a resort in violation of the Tamil Nadu Hill Buildings Act.

For that, they have occupied forest lands and stockpiled construction materials. Have expanded the forest path. No action has been taken so far in this regard brought to the notice of the District Forest Officer, Additional Chief Forest Officer. Prohibit the placing of construction materials in the forest. The power supply to the forest must be disconnected.

Action must be taken against the occupier of the forest. The boundary should be defined by measuring the forest land in the midline. . Thus Prabhakaran has stated in his petition. The case was heard by Chief Justice Sanjiv Banerjee and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamurthy.

Judges then ordered the state government not to allow the occupation of even an inch of forest land in Tamil Nadu. Further, the Nilgiris District Collector and the District Forest Officer should immediately inspect the Naduvattam village and reclaim the occupied forest land. Forest officials have to file a report in this regard. The judges also ordered that the taking of water from the forest to the private resort be stopped. The case was adjourned for three weeks.
