BJP general secretary Selvam has filed his nomination for the post of Speaker of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is in power after the 15th general election in New Delhi. N. Rangasamy has taken over as the Chief Minister.

Following this, the first meeting of the 15th Legislative Assembly convenes on Wednesday. The Speaker of the Legislature is elected on that day.

The nomination was announced on Saturday.

 

BJP General Secretary R.K. Wealth Council is running for president.

A meeting of party MLAs was held at the BJP office in Pondicherry on Monday morning. In this meeting R. Selvam was unanimously chosen as the candidate.

Following this, he filed his nomination papers at 12.10 pm at the Puducherry Legislative Assembly premises.

The Chief Minister. Rangasamy proposed. BJP leader A. Namasivayam addressed the gathering. Coalition party executives attended.

He is expected to be unanimously elected Speaker of the House as he has filed his candidature on behalf of the ruling coalition party in the majority.

 Following this, the inauguration of the chairman of the assembly will take place on Wednesday.
