Heavy rains in Mumbai have killed 33 people in various accidents in the last 24 hours.
It has been raining heavily in Mumbai since early yesterday morning. Streets and roads have been flooded. All modes of transport such as bus, train and air have been severely affected. The government has ordered those in the low-lying areas to move to other areas. The Maharashtra government has stepped up rescue operations in various places.
As many as 33 people have been killed in five accidents in Mumbai in the last 24 hours.
At least 19 people have been killed in a landslide in Mumbai's Sempur area. One person was killed when a house collapsed in Bandhup. An old man and two others were killed in a flood caused by an electrical fault. A total of 33 people were killed in a single day in accidents caused by heavy rains.
The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in Mumbai for the next four days.
