Action against Babji Madan under 'Prevention of Thug' Act ... Order by Commissioner of Police Shankar Jiwal

Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner Shankar Jiwal has ordered action against Babji Madan under the Prevention of Thug Act.

Complaints have been lodged with the Chennai Police Commissioner's Office, Puliyanthope Police Station, Cyber Crime Division, Chief Minister's Private Division and Chennai Central Crime Branch against Pabji Madan for playing online games, including the banned Babji, through the YouTube channel, and using the pornographic YouTube site.

Based on these complaints, the Chennai Central Crime Branch Cyber Crime Police registered a case against YouTuber Madan on various counts including pornography, slander, misuse of information technology and use of a banned processor.
Following a summons to appear for trial, the petition filed by Madan Munjamin, who was in hiding, was dismissed. Thus Madan continued to be the mastermind. Police have arrested his wife, a partner who ran YouTube with him. He was arrested by the police in Dharmapuri on June 18 while searching for Madan.

The case filed by Madan seeking bail came up for hearing before Chennai First Sessions Court Judge Selvakumar yesterday (July 05). The judge dismissed Babji Madan's bail application on the grounds that granting bail pending trial would affect the trial and disperse witnesses.

In this context, Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner Shankar Jival today (July 06) ordered to take action against Babji Madan under the Prevention of Thug Act.

Madan cannot seek bail for one year as action has been taken under the Prevention of Thug Act. Also, Babji Madan can now appeal to the Advisory Board. In addition, evidence of action taken against him under the Prevention of Thug Act must be filed with the Police Advisory Board.
