9-day Puri Jagannath chariot pilgrimage starting today ... Curfew ordered for two days ...!

A curfew has been imposed across the city from today for the first two days ahead of the 9-day Puri Jegannath Chariot Pilgrimage starting today in Puri, Odisha.

As the world-famous Puri Jegannathar Temple Chariot Pilgrimage Festival begins today, 65 battalions of security personnel will be deployed on security duty, police said.

It has been announced that the curfew will be in force from 8 pm last Sunday to 8 pm on July 13 ahead of the chariot procession.

The management of the Jagannath Temple in Odisha has announced that the annual Puri Jagannath Chariot Pilgrimage will be held without any devotees this year as it was last year.

Since the corona is a disaster period, it has been announced that strict regulations will be followed during the Puri Jagannath chariot pilgrimage to control the spread of the corona.

Similarly, it has been reported that the temple staff who take part in the Puri Jegannath Chariot Pilgrimage and pull the chariot are required to have a certificate of no corona.

Like last year, this year too, the Puri Jegannathar Rata Yatra will be held on July 12 without devotees. The chariot procession will follow the guidelines of the Supreme Court and the Government of Odisha. Devotees will not be allowed on the chariot pilgrimage. Only temple staff participating in the chariot pilgrimage and those who have paid both installments of the corona vaccine and have a certificate that there is no corona will be allowed.

It was also reported that more than a thousand temple staff, apart from the police, would take part in the procession.

That is, thousands of devotees and temple staff will be allowed on the chariot pilgrimage. The RTPCR test for them has been going on since July 8 at four places around the Puri temple.
