10 lakh worth of cannabis smuggled to Sri Lanka by boat has been seized.

Lower Yur police received a tip-off that cannabis was being smuggled into Sri Lanka from Velankanni in Naga District. Following this, an intensive search was carried out in the whip tree forest on the beaches from Velankanni to Vizhundhamavadi. It was then revealed that cannabis was stored in bundles near Vilhuntamavadi.

Following this, the Keezhiyur police seized 4 bundles containing 126 kg of cannabis. Police have registered a case against the three and arrested both Veeramurasu and Kannan while Rahul was in hiding.

A car has also been confiscated from Veeramurasu. The investigation revealed that the value of the cannabis was 10 lakh rupees internationally and that it was to be smuggled from Velankanni to Sri Lanka by boat.
