A police officer has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for strangling George Floyd


A court has sentenced a police officer to 22 years in prison for strangling a black man named George Floyd in the United States.

On May 25 last year in Minneapolis, USA, George Floyd, 46, a black man, was reported to have tried to give a counterfeit note at a store. Subsequently, the police officers present there interrogated him. The hands were tied behind the back and dropped down. In it, a police officer presses Floyd's neck with his knees.

Unable to breathe, Floyd died. The 'video' related to this incident was released and caused a great stir. The police officer charged in the case, Derek Chawin, 45, was fired. A 12-judge panel heard the case.


During the trial last April, Derek Chowdhury was charged with three counts of murder. The session confirmed that he was guilty of all three.
