Political observers are waiting to see who will be given the post of Tamil Nadu BJP leader as L Murugan is in charge as the Union Minister.

Former Tamil Nadu BJP leader L Murugan was given the post of Union Home Minister in a cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday. In the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Modi, he took charge as the Internet Minister for Information and Broadcasting.

In this situation, according to the party rules of the BJP, a person holding a government post is prohibited from being a part of the party responsibilities. It is expected that a new person will be appointed to the post of Tamil Nadu BJP leader soon after L Murugan takes over as the Union Home Minister.

In the current scenario, BJP-influenced legislators Vanathi Srinivasan and Nayyar Nagendran are leading the contest. According to reports, Annamalai, who retired from the Indian Police and joined the BJP in the Assembly elections, is also on the list. However, it is learned that Nainar Nagendran and Annamalai are in the finals for the post of BJP leader as Vanathi Srinivasan is currently the national leader of the BJP women's team.

Political critics say the BJP is pursuing a similar political strategy in Tamil Nadu, with a majority of backward and Scheduled Castes members in the current Union Cabinet.

The appointment of the current BJP state president is seen as politically significant in the context of the appointment of L Murugan, a member of the Scheduled Caste, as the BJP's leader and the current Union Home Minister, which is seen as the BJP's main political move.

It is noteworthy that L. Murugan was appointed as the BJP leader after a long hiatus following the appointment of Tamil Nadu BJP leader Tamizhai Selandirajana as the Governor of Telangana in September 2019.
