Tank-like structure discovered today in excavations carried out 'Keeladi' ..!

A tank-like structure was found on Today in the seventh phase of excavations being carried out 'Keeladi' near Thirupuvanam in Sivagangai district.

The seventh phase of excavations on behalf of the Archaeological Survey of Tamil Nadu has been going on since February 13 at four places including 'Keeladi', Agaram, Kondagai and Manalur. Seven pits have been dug so far in Ganesan's land 'underneath' and various items including bake dice, bowl, pot with lid, pottery and plowing tool have been found.

A pot with a small engraving was found in the 6th pit dug 'Keeladi'. It was found outside with a cylindrical tank-like structure now fully excavated. At 44 cm high and 77 cm wide, it is thought to have been a small tank. Excavations at four sites, including 'Keeladi', have revealed that 'Bottom' has been used as an industrial town and a burial ground for ancient peoples.

The alphabet may have been a kitchen, and excavations so far have found evidence of this. The excavation, which had already taken place 'Keeladi', uncovered the remains of the weaving industry, including the thakkazhi, the clay bomb, and the weaving needle. Archaeologists are still struggling to gather enough evidence before reaching the final conclusions about the location of the tank.

It is hoped that in the coming days more buildings-like structures will be visible outside the ‘Keeladi’ excavation site.
