The company said more than 20 lakh WhatsApp accounts were blocked in a single month from May 15 to June 15.
The federal government’s new IT law came into force a few weeks ago. Most companies operating in India have reported compliance with the new IT law.
Under the new IT Act, social networking sites are required to submit a report each month on the action taken against user complaints.
WhatsApp report
Accordingly WhatsApp has now submitted its first report. WhatsApp said in a statement, "We continue to invest in a variety of technologies to create a safer environment for our users.
20 lakh accounts deleted
We have developed technology to identify the accounts that send the most fake messages. Accordingly, from May 15 to June 15 alone, about 20 lakh WhatsApp accounts were banned in India. We continue to use the necessary tools to prevent hazardous activities. Our intention is to prevent a danger before it occurs.
How to delete
We will identify risky accounts in three stages. Even when a new account is registered, we will detect dangerous accounts while sending the message. In addition, WhatsApp will take the necessary action with feedback from other users. A separate committee has been set up for this purpose. "
Case in iCourt
WhatsApp, a subsidiary of Facebook, has about 40 crore users in India alone. WhatsApp has submitted this report following the new ID rules of the Central Government. Nevertheless, WhatsApp has filed a lawsuit in the Delhi High Court alleging that the new IT rules violate users' privacy.
