The word "Indian Union" at the Puducherry inauguration ceremony ... caused controversy for the BJP ...

Two days ago, Puducherry Deputy Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundarajan, NR Congress' Lakshminarayanan, Theni Jayakumar, Chandrapranganga and BJP's Sai Saravanakumar were sworn in as ministers. At that time, the Governor declared, "I will act as the Minister of the Government of Pondicherry in the Union Territory of India." Only BJP and NR Congress ministers took office. The use of the word "Indian Union" caused controversy for the BJP.

According to a statement issued by the Puducherry Public Relations Officer:
The day before yesterday (27-06-2021) marked a day in the history of Pondicherry. The day the new ministers took office under the leadership of Hon'ble Chief Minister Mr. Rangasamy. Hon'ble Deputy Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundarajan administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new Ministers in Tamil. A proud event took place 40 years later when a woman minister took office.

In such a glorious event, the oath of office was administered in Tamil without any change in the Tamil Pledge Form traditionally used by the Government of Pondicherry for many years under the Constitution. The word "Union of India" has been deliberately distorted to the extent of obscuring this pride.

Just as the Tamil Nadu ministers said that we become Tamil Nadu ministers when we take office, the phrase “Indian Union Territory of Pudhucherry” was beautifully translated and legislated long ago by Puducherry Tamil scholars as ‘Indian Union Territory of Puducherry’. This form has been in constant use for a long time,

It is called the "Indian Union Territory" because it has been under Indian rule since French rule, hence the term "Union Territory of India", which refers to the Union Territory of Pondicherry.

Pondicherry is a state under the jurisdiction of the Government of India. That is why the inauguration of the Union Cabinet for the Nation of India did not take place there except to say that the Union Territory of India is the land of Pondicherry. Therefore, it is intentional to say that the word 'Central Government' does not appear in the Inauguration Form of State Governments, but only in Pondicherry as 'United Government'.

That is why this explanation is needed. We have to maintain the pride of being elected in Tamil on Tamil soil. But the notion that this Union is being misrepresented to the extent of covering up its prestige is being asked not to try to undermine the strong Indian sovereignty created by the sacrifice of Balad by some unnecessary fuss.
